Promote Yourself….Write a Blog!

From the desk of My Collaborative Team President, Edward S. Sachs, CPA

One of my marketing mantras is that competence and confidence is the path to making more Collaborative matters.  The easiest way to build confidence and ultimately your competence is to get published.  Write a blog!

My number one lesson in writing blogs is that you are not writing a legal doctrine or a master’s thesis.  A blog can be about an issue you have had in a prior case that was interesting.  Or a problem you are currently having and how you and/or your team tackled the issue.  You don’t have to be teaching, maybe just raise the issue and look for feedback.

Many of my blogs are nothing more than me writing down the answer to a question that I may have been asked.  My blog on personal goodwill was the result of an attorney asking me at a POD meeting about how to calculate personal goodwill.  I answered her in person and then wrote down my answer in a blog. Other blogs are experiential.  Something happens in a Collaborative matter.  I go back to my office and just write a short blurb about the experience.

It can be that easy!

I encourage everyone to write about Collaborative.  It is the best way to get the word out.  If you write a blog and aren’t sure what to do with it, send it to me.  I’ll publish it!
