Description:

Laura Richter, Ph.D., LMFT has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for almost 15 years. She has been working as a Collaborative Facilitator since 2014.

“My interest in the collaborative process evolved from watching the heartbreak of divorce. Both men and women were showing up confused and devasted by the litigative divorce process – they didn’t understand it; and they didn’t feel supported by their professionals during the process. That’s the complete opposite of what collaborative divorce provides. In addition to guiding the couple through a kinder, gentler, more respectful divorce, the collaborative process provides guidance and support, through it’s multi-tiered professional team that include attorneys who advocate on the behalf of each client and neutral professionals that offer unbiased financial and parenting guidance. The team literally holds each partner in a safe place where they are able to explore the options and goals that will best suit the needs of their family. This is not a one size fits all type of divorce.”

Dr. Richter is also trained as a State of Florida Supreme Court Mediator and State of Florida Parenting Coordinator. Her therapeutic work focuses on relational issues including  couple’s issues, co-parenting and starting over after divorce. She is a member of the South Palm Beach County Collaborative Law Group, The Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.
